America in 1914 was a lot different than America today. The United States was thriving. The economy in America was growing at a faster rate than ever, and they were advancing in every form. Some of their greatest advancements were in transportation, military, and industry. They also advanced in communications, banking systems, railroads, and more. America was at the time when new inventions were being created. Immigrants began to come to America to live the American dream, and to take advantage of new opportunities. They also came in search of freedom that they did not get in their old land. Luckily, up until the war, America faced few foreign problems.
Although there were a lot of positive events, there were also problems. There were issues in the government system with leaders and political issues. The common people were upset with how they were being paid and with the conditions they worked in. Women and children were faced with these same problems but worse. They were not paid as much as men, and women did not have the same rights as men. Many women protested and their rights were later given to them in 1920. As time passed, America would fix these problems and grow as a nation.
